Mission and objectives |
MESAFE Maharashtra
Safety Awareness Forum is a non-profit social organization
(NGO) dedicated to improve awareness of electrical safety
in Industry, Home and Public places. Our mission is to
have a measurable impact on reducing electrical accidents,
property loss and deaths through education and information.
We promote electrical safety in industry, Home and public
places, We provide a forum for attention on unresolved
issues that are still pending regarding electrical safety
and we also provide a forum for sharing of experiences
and safety solutions. |

Programmes conducted

|
Conducted Electrical Safety meeting between
MSEB and Pune authorities at Balgandharva Rang Mandir on
4th May 1997. |
|
Conducted State Level Industrial Electrical
Safety Seminar on 24th April 1999 at Shramik Patrakar Bhavan.
Around 200 Industrial personnel had taken advantage of this
seminar which propagated the knowledge of Industrial Safety. |

Had informed for further
action to MSEB authorities on the death of innocent victim
late Shri. Dipak Mehta (Near Pune Commissioner Office)and
many other electrical accident victims. |
|
Created awareness drive for Electrical
Safety amongst Engineers. |
|
Created awareness about Electrical Safety
in Human Rights Meeting at Wankhede Stadium-Mumbai. |
|
Created awareness About Electrical Safety
in children at Remand Home at Shivaji Nagar-Pune and distributed
food packets. |
|
Had conducted Electrical Safety Drive in
some of the slums in Pune City. |
|
Started on Electrical Safety Award and felicitated
best MSEB Divisions every year who have done good work in
Electrical Safety.
This award encouraged those divisions to take care of electrical
safety norms. We are regularly submitting the reports to
all concerned authorities regarding hazardous Electrical
Installations in their respective area and follow it up and
get that work done in public interest. |

Taken an Electrical Safety
and Appliances Workshop for all primary teachers in Maharashtra
in co-ordination with 'Rotary aub of Pune' – Ganeshkhind and District
Education and Training Division : Maharashtra State
dated 1 June 2000 at Sancheti Hospital. |

We have proposed Electrical Safety as
a Human Right. |
|
Souvenir on Electrical Safety was published
in 1999. |
|
Taken awareness lecturers in various Rotary
Clubs. We have also conducted Electrical Safety Audit for
many Industries. (note : Our organisation can also ask
for periodic electrical safety audit from our expert team). |
|
Inplant electrical safety training workshops
conducted in many industries like CIPLA, SUCON IND. etc. |
|
Inplant training programmes conducted for MSEB
line staff at Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Padmavati Division Pune. |

Distribution of electric
pliers and hand gloves to line staff of MSEB.Electrical
safety seminar in Pune, Bhandup, Kalyan, Nagpur, Satara & A'Nagar. |

What can we do to
reduce Electrical Accidents |
|
Develop a positive attitude towards electrical
safety amongst line staff and engineers by conducting seminars
in each circle. |
|
We can jointly publish a separate bulletin
once in six months for electrical safety and will be circulated
in Maharashtra. |
|
Arrange electrical safety exhibition in
Pune for seven days. |
|
Print electrical safety tips behind the electrical
energy bill (electrical safety slogans) |
|
Participate in electrical safety week and play
a leading role to be organized by government of maharashtra
PWD department in community in Nov. 2004. |
|
Conduct national seminar on electrical safety
in Mumbai / Pune jointly in January-2005. |
|
Give advertisement on T.V. once in a week
at Prime time regarding electrical safety for farmers and
household. |
|
Earthing all distribution transformers
with two new earthings as per IE3043. Special Funds are
to be allotted to each circle only for earthing and guarding
and box maintenance. |

The metal sheet door of the feeder pillars
are oftenly stolen by thieves and then we replace it. This
process continues. To stop this some permanent remedies
are to be found like PVC/FRP etc. Sheets for feeder piller
doors. |
|
Make "Electrical Safety Cell" on
state and zone level, which will include Engineers, Linestaff
and NGO's. This interaction will help in awareness. This
will also rise to Consumers participation in governance. |
